Business & AI consulting

AI advice that survives contact with Monday morning.

Northquill Ventures is a small consultancy for owner-led and mid-sized businesses. We find the places where AI genuinely saves time or money, build what’s worth building, and leave your team able to run it without us.

01

What we do

Five kinds of work. Most clients start with the first and decide from there.

  1. Opportunity audit

Two to three weeks inside your operations. We talk to the people doing the work, map where the hours actually go, and rank possible AI use cases by payoff and risk.

You get A prioritised shortlist with rough costs and expected returns.

  2. Strategy & roadmap

A plan your leadership and your team can both read: build versus buy, vendor choices, data readiness, budget, and the order to do things in.

You get A written roadmap and a decision you can defend.

  3. Build & integrate

We design and ship the thing. Workflow automations, internal assistants, document processing, and integrations with the tools you already pay for.

You get Working software in production, with documentation.

  4. Enablement & governance

Hands-on training, sensible usage policies and lightweight guardrails, so people use AI with confidence without leaking data or trusting made-up answers.

You get A team that knows when to use it, and when not to.

  5. Operations consulting

Not every problem is an AI problem. Sometimes it’s a process, a pricing model or an org chart. We’ll say so, and help with that too.

You get An honest outside view of how the business runs.

Sometimes the most useful thing we do is talk a client out of building something.

How an engagement runs

A typical first project. Timelines flex with scope; the order doesn’t.

  1. Weeks 1–2

    Listen

Interviews, shadowing and a look at your data. We learn how work really gets done, not how the org chart says it does.

  2. Weeks 2–3

    Prioritise

We put numbers on each idea and agree on one or two to pursue. Everything else goes on a list for later.

  3. Weeks 4–10

    Build

Short cycles with the people who will use it. We measure against a baseline from day one, so results aren’t a matter of opinion.

  4. Handover

    Hand over

Code, prompts, runbooks and training. You own all of it, and you shouldn’t need us to keep the lights on.

How we think about it

Measured, not guessed
Every project starts with a baseline and ends with a number. If it didn’t move, we say so.
Boring where it counts
Proven tools over shiny ones. The goal is something that still works next year.
Plain language
No jargon, no black boxes. If we can’t explain it to your team, we haven’t understood it.
Your data stays yours
We design for privacy from the start and choose vendors with that in mind.

Questions we hear a lot

Do we need a data team before we start?

No. Most of our clients don’t have one. Part of the audit is working out what data you have, what state it’s in, and whether that’s enough for the use cases worth pursuing.

Which AI tools and models do you work with?

Whichever fit the job. We’re not resellers and don’t take referral fees, so our recommendations aren’t tied to any vendor. Often the answer is a feature in software you already own.

What if AI isn’t the right answer for us?

Then we’ll tell you, usually early. A clear “not yet” is a perfectly good outcome of an audit, and it’s cheaper than a failed project.

How is pricing structured?

It depends on scope. After an intro call we send a short written proposal with the scope, timeline and price for the first phase, so there are no surprises.
